CAIR Action Urges President Trump to Avoid Escalation with Iran, Warns of Potential for Global Conflict

(Washington, D.C., April 7, 2025) – CAIR Action today issued a statement urging President Trump to exercise caution and restraint in his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, warning against being drawn into a military conflict with Iran that could have devastating global consequences.

In light of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s visit to Washington, D.C., CAIR Action emphasized the critical need for diplomacy over military action. The organization expressed deep concern that escalating tensions with Iran could lead to a wider, uncontrollable conflict.

Basim Elkarra, Executive Director for CAIR Action stated:“We’ve seen this movie before. Netanyahu was among the loudest voices pushing false intelligence that led to the Iraq War—a catastrophic conflict that cost over 4,500 American lives, displaced millions, destabilized an entire region, and left our own national security weakened. That war didn’t make us safer. It emboldened adversaries, fractured international alliances, and left America footing the bill—economically, militarily, and morally.”

Elkarra further stated: “The lessons of the Iraq War are clear. We cannot afford to repeat the mistakes of the past. Allowing another nation’s political agenda to dictate our foreign policy is not in the best interest of the United States.”

CAIR Action cautioned against the potential for a military engagement with Iran to spiral into a global crisis. The organization highlighted the risk of regional powers being drawn into the conflict, potentially leading to a large-scale war.

CAIR Action calls on the Trump administration to reject any calls for military intervention and instead pursue peaceful solutions. The organization maintains that the United States’ focus should be on domestic priorities and avoiding unnecessary foreign entanglements.

At CAIR Action, we call for diplomacy, de-escalation, and a firm rejection of war-mongering. We stand against being used—again—as pawns in someone else’s fight.
