Position Summary
Key Responsibilities
Local Office Operations
- Serve as the primary representative of CAIR Action in the Michigan
- Establish and manage local office operations, records, documentation, and compliance materials
- Coordinate closely with national staff to implement strategic goals, campaigns, and programming
- Support the development of scalable systems that allow expansion into additional Michigan cities
Community Engagement & Grassroots Mobilization
- Build and sustain relationships with local mosques, community organizations, student groups, and grassroots leaders across cities in Michigan
- Organize peer-to-peer engagement, educational forums, roundtables, town halls, and GOTV efforts
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for canvassing, phone banking, text banking, and civic engagement initiatives
- Serve as a trusted connector between local communities and statewide/national advocacy efforts
Program Oversight
- Lead local implementation of voter outreach, civic engagement, and issue-based advocacy campaigns
- Align local campaign tactics with CAIR Action’s broader national and state-level strategies
- Track, analyze, and report metrics related to outreach, turnout, volunteer engagement, and impact
- Serve as the local lead on candidate forums, endorsement processes, election visibility, and accountability efforts
Fundraising & Events
- Support the planning and execution of community events, briefings, and fundraising initiatives
- Identify and cultivate prospective donors across Michigan
- Coordinate with national fundraising staff to align local efforts with organizational sustainability and growth goals
Communications & Public Presence
- Draft and disseminate local outreach materials, including emails, flyers, action alerts, and social media content
- Represent CAIR Action at public events, coalition meetings, civic gatherings, and partner convenings
- Coordinate closely with the national communications team to ensure message discipline and brand alignment
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in nonprofit operations, community organizing, political campaigns, or civic engagement
- Strong organizational, administrative, and project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficiency with digital tools such as Google Workspace, Zoom, and CRM platforms
- Deep familiarity with Michigan’s Muslim communities and local political landscape
- Experience managing field operations, campaigns, or volunteer programs strongly preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to justice, political empowerment, and community advocacy
- Ability to work weekends and irregular hours as needed.
