CAIR Action Condemns U.S. Bombing of Iran as Reckless, Unconstitutional Act of War

WASHINGTON, D.C. – CAIR Action, a leading national Muslim civil rights and political advocacy organization, strongly condemned the Trump administration's latest U.S. military bombing campaign inside Iran as an illegal, unconstitutional act of war that threatens to plunge the region—and potentially the world—into a catastrophic conflict.

On Saturday, U.S. warplanes conducted multiple strikes deep into Iranian territory in coordination with Israeli forces, marking a dramatic and dangerous escalation in a growing regional crisis. The strikes reportedly targeted military infrastructure at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. The attack was carried out without any Congressional debate or vote, prompting widespread backlash from civil rights groups, international law scholars, and even members of Congress.

Basim Elkarra, Executive Director of CAIR Action, issued the following statement:

“This reckless bombing campaign is not only unconstitutional—it is a betrayal of the American people. Once again, we are witnessing the executive branch drag our nation into another war in the Middle East without debate, without a vote, and without the consent of the governed. The American public has no appetite for another endless war that only serves Netanyahu’s political survival at the expense of global peace.”

“Our community remembers the lies that led to Iraq. We remember the destruction that followed. And we will not stay silent as history repeats itself. We urge Congress to immediately pass Senator Kaine’s and Representatives Khanna and Massie’s bipartisan resolutions to block further unauthorized war with Iran. We need diplomacy—not disaster.”

The group reiterated its support for S.J.Res. 59, a bipartisan resolution introduced by Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) to prohibit any further unauthorized U.S. military action against Iran, and the companion resolution in the House introduced by Representatives Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Thomas Massie (R-KY). These resolutions would reassert Congress’s constitutional authority and prevent executive overreach in decisions of war and peace.

CAIR Action is calling on all Americans to speak out, mobilize, and demand an end to what it calls a "repeat of the Iraq playbook": secretive wars based on executive fiat, launched without public input, and bound to result in massive human, economic, and geopolitical costs.

“If this war escalates, the consequences will be felt far beyond Iran,” added Elkarra. “This could ignite a regional inferno, endanger U.S. troops, destabilize global energy markets, and provoke confrontation with other global powers. The costs in blood, treasure, and trust will be incalculable.”
