Washington, D.C. — November 8, 2024 — CAIR Action is proud to announce the success of its 2024 voter outreach campaign, reaching over 1 million Muslim and allied voters across the U.S. Through extensive text banking and phone banking efforts, CAIR Action connected communities to comprehensive voter guides, crafted to reflect the values of justice, peace, and human rights that resonate deeply with our supporters. This historic effort demonstrates that advocating against genocide and promoting justice can indeed be a winnable issue in American politics—especially when American Muslims stand united with our allies.
This election season has highlighted the challenges our community faces, including millions of dollars directed to stifle our causes and disengage our voices from high-level political conversations. Yet rather than being silenced, the Muslim community organized and mobilized in unprecedented ways, setting a new standard for civic engagement and solidarity.
“We have witnessed a tremendous show of resilience and unity from American Muslims and our allies,” said Basim Elkarra, Executive Director of CAIR Action. “Despite attempts to silence us, our community has risen up, demonstrating that we have a powerful voice in American politics. This campaign has shown that by organizing and mobilizing, we can advocate for justice, human rights, and peace on a national scale.”
CAIR Action is committed to working closely with local communities to register more Muslims to vote, educate on the importance of voting, and strategize around mobilization efforts. Full participation in our democracy is key to effecting meaningful change, and CAIR Action will continue to lead the charge in building a politically engaged community.
In preparation for this election, CAIR Action developed 30 voter guides across 16 states, in collaboration with over 100 community advisors. These guides evaluated nearly 1,500 races nationwide, empowering our supporters with critical insights into candidate positions on issues that matter most. This comprehensive evaluation took into account stances on ceasefires, arms embargoes, and efforts to combat Islamophobia—issues that are at the heart of our work and essential to promoting safety and dignity for Muslims in the U.S. and around the world.
As noted in our Voter Guide introduction, “The 2024 election comes at a critical time for the Muslim community and all those committed to justice, human rights, and peace. This election will not only shape domestic policies but will also have profound implications for international issues, especially the crisis in Palestine and surrounding countries.” We know that elections can be decided by narrow margins, and every vote counts in building a future rooted in justice, compassion, and equality. This is a time to use our voices and our votes to stand for human
rights, from Gaza to our local communities.
