The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and CAIR Action today welcomed the Young Democrats’ condemnation of Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza.
The Young Democrats of America, the youth wing of the Democratic Party, has passed an amendment to its foreign policy plank opposing the “Israeli government’s ongoing genocide in Gaza.” The amendment also expressed opposition to the Israeli government’s “occupation of the West Bank, and its denial of civil and political rights on an equal basis in the territories it militarily occupies.”
In a statement, CAIR and CAIR Action said:
“We commend the Young Democrats of America for recognizing the genocide in Gaza, and we strongly encourage Democratic Party leadership to begin respecting and reflecting the views of their voters. Young people across the political spectrum have been able to witness two years of mass murder in Gaza for themselves through social media. Instead of smearing, threatening and punishing college students and other young people for speaking out, Democratic politicians should be listening to their base and demanding an end to U.S. support for the genocide in Gaza.”
