Why Vote in the Primaries

Right now, primary elections are where Texas politics are decided.
In many districts, the primary effectively determines the winner, long before November. If we do not participate, decisions are made without our communities at the table.

This year’s primaries are happening amid a surge in anti-Muslim political attacks. Candidates and political leaders are using fear-based rhetoric — including false claims about “Sharia law” — to mobilize voters and score political points. This rhetoric fuels discrimination and puts Muslim communities at risk.

You can register in person at your local elections office. It takes less than 5 minutes. Eligibility includes being a U.S. citizen, at least 17 years and 10 months old to register (18 by Election Day), a Texas county resident, and otherwise legally eligible to vote.
